Eureka Vacuum Cleaners
Eureka vacuum cleaners are made by Electrolux, and they are bagless, using a type of cup that can be emptied and used again. Included in there range are canisters, upright cleaners, wet and dry vacuums, portables, stick cleaners and steam cleaners, though the latter are not rally vacuum cleaners. The company is probably best known for the Boss vacuum cleaner that was popular in the 1980s.
They claim to offer around 130 models of vacuum cleaner, though that seems too many for the normal person to have to choose from. You really have to know what you want and need to make a choice from such a vast range. To help you, here are the pros and cons of some of the models that are commonly used in a domestic environment.
Pros
- All cleaners are fitted with the H.E.P.A. (High Efficiency Particulate Air) system that removes very small particles from the air, including pollen, dust mites and other allergens, thus making them suitable or asthmatics. Your air will smell and taste sweeter and cleaner, and your house will be a better place to live in.
- The Boss is the best known, and the 4D model is the best for domestic use. The electronic brush roll allows you to use it on carpets and hard floors without scratching the wood or tearing at the carpets. The Rugsaver and Power Paw turbo brush are useful for delicate surfaces and stairs respectively. If you want a good general upright domestic cleaner, then this is it.
- The Whirlwind Series have some useful features, such as their powerful 12 amp motor that provides the power needed to provide the suction necessary for pet hairs. These are more substantial cleaners than the Boss, and a bit heavier. However, the attachments available mean that it does not have to be lugged around as you clean. The 4880D has a ten foot hose and weighs 28 pounds, and the hose could be a bit longer though the 12 inch cleaning path is good.
- The Litespeed bagless cleaner can electrostatically charge a spinning duster unit that attracts dust and then sucks it up.
- The Altima has wider than average cleaning path, which is great for wide expanses of carpet. It also has a 36 inch wand for easy cleaning of curtains and corners of the ceiling.
- The Central Vac System has a central suction motor and collection unit. You simply attach the hose into any vacuum outlet attached to ductwork leading back to the central unit. The 30 foot hose allows you to reach any part of your house.
Cons
- The weight is the main negative with the Wirlwind series and the Boss Smartvac 4870. 28 Pounds is a bit much for the average user, though there are plenty more models to choose from.
- The Wirlwind 5197 has a tendency to clog, and needs frequent cleaning out.
Otherwise, there is not a lot wrong with Eureka vacuum cleaners. As with any make each individual machine might have specific problems, but in general they look to be reliable and suitable for most uses.
