Good Features poor Implementation
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This vacuum is nice and solid and a fairly good cost to benefit item. However, The hose is about a foot too short and very stiff to maneuver, even for someone only 5′4″. The motor seems to give off a very high pitched whine which is quite annoying after a few minutes; it’s loud, too. The beater bar attachment does NOT auto level to flooring types and heights; thus when on a carpet it takes on a life of its own and is hard to direct. The bare floor attachment is very nice… wide and has rollers for ease of use. Again it’s nice and most attachments are carried on-board, but it is difficult to maneuver and noisy. I didn’t keep it.
The Amazon ordering process was very simple and the delivery extremely prompt.

After a month this product is working as well as can be expected. I hope it lasts as long as my last vacumn which was an electrolux. That one lasted 30 years.
I was really surprised when I recieved this shipment the next day, especially since I only paid for regular shipping.
Great service

I wish I had listened to the reviews, and did not purchase this vacuum in June of 09. I have had 2 Kenmores since 1983, and never was so frustraighted as I am with this product. It constantly clogs, and now the beater bar just quit! We have no small children and 1 short haired cat. I have all hardwood or tile and only use the beater bar for the family room. It is a peice of JUNK!

Happy in Albuquerque

Our old Hoover Demension 1000 vacuum (probably 22 years old) bit the dust, excuse the pun. We were looking to mirror that vacuum as closely as possible in a replacement. We looked in Sears at a couple of Hoovers and a Kenmore, but we were not convinced they were anywhere close in quality. They both cost more than what the Hoover Anniversary vac cost. We decided to browse the Internet, and we came upon the Hoover Anniversary…truly a jewel find. It is much quieter than the Demension 1000, but it seems to have just as much suction power. A couple of features we would add are an additional small brush that has very soft bristles that can be used over furniture as a duster (the one included is rather stiff) and a switch to cut off the vacuum at the handle (as others have suggested). We are very happy with our purchase, and it arrived well before we expected. Count us in the 5 star rating!!!
Good at removing pet hair
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This was my first new vacuum in 20 years and technology has come a long way. We have 4 cats and 2 dogs, so we have pet hair on everything! The powerhead works well at removing pet hair on carpet. The upholstery attachment works very well removing fine cat hair from furniture. I vacuum our hardwood floors and the floor attachment has to be held at a certain angle in order to get the full suction to collect all of the pet hair. This is the only issue I have had and I am still mastering the technique. The HEPA filter works great and the house no longer smells like a wet dog after I vacuum. I would recommend this vacuum to other pet owners.
happy vacuum

I am very pleased with this vacuum. I had the old model for 10 years and it worked great. I upgraded to this model and I love the suction and all of the attachments. I especially like the attachment to clean carpeted stairs.
Versatility and Power!

This vacuum enables you to reach crevices, under beds and furniture, and clean places you couldn’t get to before!!
Overall a good vacuum but couple of design flaws
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
After few uses I noticed a couple of issues. The hose is too rigid and doesn’t rotate easily when moving around. It also needs to be wire reinforced. I had it collapse on me when moving around. The cord doesn’t retract too well. Seems that the spring loaded mechanism is too weak. I have to help it. The bulb in the attachment burnt out after 1 use. The suction is good and cleans carpets really well. Our apartment has mostly carpeting, so I don’t know how it cleans hard wood floors. It’s on the heavy side too. Previously I had a Bosch canister vacuum. While the Hoover vacuum cleans better, Bosch was much lighter and smaller. I guess it was smaller because of smaller motor. Overall I like this vacuum. We’ll see how it holds up over time.
Too much trouble
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Vacuum only 6 months old and the extension wand will no longer shorten; this makes it difficult to vacuum stairs. Not a good vacuum if you have pets. Small amount of dog hair causes bag full indicator light to constantly come on. Hose not flexible; constantly crimps. Would not buy a Hoover again.
Hoover S3670 WTAE canister needs a stronger hose!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The only reason for a less than perfect review is the hose–it kinks easily when pulled, especially in a change of direction, the hose will sometimes crimp together like one does a garden hose to stop the water. Not good…this hose will likely develop a hole entirely too soon given this weakness. If this were a car, a recall on the hose would be in order–Hoover really should consider developing a stronger, more durable hose that doesn’t crimp and issue one to all those who purchased this vacuum. The extra wide floor brush is excellent on the hardwood floors. The little plastic wheels inside it made it travel squirrelly like a grocery cart with wheels needing alignment, but I popped those out and voila! The best floor brush I’ve ever used!
Awesome vacuum
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am really lovin this vacuum. The suction on the hardwood floor attachment is fabulous, and that was what I was most concerend with when I went about purchasing a new vacuum. I have two large shag area-rugs and the main head does a wonderful job on them. Somewhere on the internets someone complained about the hose being cheap….it’s not. It’s stiff, and I’m hoping with use it will become pliable but if it never does I’m OK with that. Also, it is pretty heavy, I wouldn’t want to be luggin this thing around if you have stairs to vacuum, unless you want to set it down on each step. On the other hand, if you have to carry it around, it will definitely build muscle, and as well all know, more muscle helps burn fat…….just puttin a postive spin on it. This vacuum not not look or feel cheaply made like someone had suggested. I have been buyin one cheap $100 vacuum year after year for the last 7 years and let me tell you, THOSE are cheaply made. This vacuum is sturdy work horse. I highly recommend.
Very Pleased

This vacuum replaced a similar Hoover that I had for many years. I chose to replace rather than repair the old vacuum because some of the electrical wiring were sending out sparks. I decided that it was time for a new vacuum. The power and suction capacity of this vacuum is wonderful! My 19 year old wall to wall carpet has not looked so well for many years, I particularly appreciate the ability to control the amount of suction.
I had my 3 and 1/2 year old twin granddaughters over for Halloween. Their costumes had a lot of glitter that was all over my furniture and carpet. I thought the clean up would involve my sitting on the ground for hours with a tweezer to pick up all of the glitter! Instead, I used the vacuum on high suction and it got all of it with no hassle. Thank you Hoover.
Avoid this pathetic, low quality vacuum cleaner

It is rare for us to buy something only to later return it, but that is where we find ourselves with the Hoover S3670 WindTunnel Canister. We appreciate Amazon for allowing us to do that fairly easily.
This is the third vacuum cleaner we have had in the past 18 years. The first one, a Kenmore canister, lasted about 14 years and actually still works to a degree. We replaced it with a very similar Kenmore which worked well for about a year, then performed poorly for a few more while we became increasingly annoyed with it.
So we set out last month to buy another vacuum with the criteria being a) not a Kenmore, b) a canister, c) has a “beater bar” (Hoover calls it the WindTunnel power nozzle), and d) has a separate hard floor brush attachment. We ended up with the Hoover S3670 since it had these things along with a reasonable price. The reviews were mixed although slightly positive.
Our first impression taking it out of the box was how cheaply made the unit feels. The hose is very stiff and seems like something that will kink and develop a hole in it. The hoses on our previous vacuums were far more flexible and had a glossy shrink-wrap feel to it - this Hoover hose is just a cheap plastic hose.
The cord retractors in our other vacuums worked well initially, but then gradually became worse over time. This Hoover skipped the working well portion of the journey, pulling in the cord fairly weakly. It is best used if you line up the cord to help it out.
But let’s face it: The suction on a vacuum cleaner is the main thing. Unlike some other reviews, we found that the suction on this Hoover, well, sucks. It was pushing around dirt and required us to literally place it atop crumbs to pick them up.
The electronic full bag indicator also lit up all the way after not much use even though the bag was much closer to completely empty than full. Even after changing the bag to a brand new one, the bag full indicator stayed on.
The last straw was when the carpet agitator (AKA Windtunnel power nozzle or beater bar) started making a very unhealthy squeaking noise.
So after a few weeks of ownership, it is now all packed up and ready to go back to Amazon. We are back to the drawing board in our quest for a new vacuum cleaner and now we can add e) not a Hoover, onto the criteria list.
Hoover S3670 Wind Tunnel Anniversary Edition
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I have always used the Hoover Wind Tunnel Vacuum for my cleaning business so I was upset when they changed the style of the vacuum. I recently purchased the new version (Anniversary Edition)and have not been overly impressed with it. Here’s why…this vacuum is considerably heavier than the previous model. They have changed the wheels and you can no longer push it to go backwards without having it go off to the side and crash into something. The brush and crevice tools are small and the brush attachment is hard to use b/c it is elongated instead of horizontal making it impossible to vacuum off upholstered furniture by pulling the attachment toward you - you have to go side to side. The suction is still good but I like the feature on the old version where you could control it on the wand vs. the vacuum itself. The shape of the cannister makes it hard to sit on steps while vacuuming. It tends to fall over and down the stairs. All in all, the vacuum does suck good, there’s just too many features that they’ve changed and not for good. Go back to the old version and I’ll continue buying it!
