I bought this vacuum cleaner for very lightweight use in my condo. It worked fine for about 3 times, then suction became so bad on hardwood floors that I had to use the carpet mode. Shortly after that the vacuum control stopped working altogether, and now the vacuum cleaner is useless.

This is a great vacuum. I’d bought a much cheaper one and finally bit the bullet. I’m glad I did. Why?

First, a vacuum cleaner needs to make a good vacuum. This one does.

Second, a vacuum cleaner needs to be handy. This one is

Third, a vacuum cleaner needs to be hassle free. This one is.

It’s light and all the controls are in three pushbuttons on the handle. Make the brush spin or not, step the suction power through three levels, turn it on or off. The canister is light enough I carry it with me upstairs as I do the stairs. By the way - it comes with a small attachment with a brush powered by suction. Works great on the stairs where the main head is too big. The main head brush is powerful and turns off at a button push when passing from carpet to wood or tile. Suction is adjustable so if a throw rug is caught, just reduce the suction. And when you’re all done, don’t worry about winding up the cord - step on the pedal and it disappears into the machine.

It does everything it’s supposed to and does it nicely. It’s not cheap - but I spent half as much on a cleaner that wouldn’t do nearly what this one does and was both heavy and incnvenient to boot.

    Recommended hightly

Compared with the old - dead - Kenmore cannister (a large & heavy piece of crap) that we overpaid as in $600 for 12 years ago (over my objections) - this little Hoover is better & stronger from the onset. Powerful, light - so you can carry the power unit in one hand while vacuming with the hose in the other- manuverable - not large or clumsy to get around the furniture, adjustable suction level is great for hard floors vs. Persian rugs, and simple to empty. The filters can easily be cleaned out with compressed air (air compressor in the garage) if you prefer not to wash them.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT FOR THIS UNIT!! THE PERFORMANCE IS SUPERB!!!

This vaccuum works very good on pickin gup dirt from the floor. The only thing I do not like is the control panel at the handle becasue I always hit ‘Off’. If I am more careful then there are no problem.

I was considering the Kenmore Intuition 28014 canister vac b/c of the Consumer Reports review, but it is pricey and user reviews suggested build quality issues and expensive replacement bags. I did some research and the Hoover S3765 was relatively inexpensive, had good user reviews, and did well on pet hair tests.

Pros: I have a double-coated dog (which means lots of shedding) — The Hoover S3765 does a great job picking up pet hair from carpet that my old vac missed. Seriously, my husband and I were amazed (and grossed out) with the amount of fur in the dirt cup after a couple of passes over a small area of carpet. Other features include variable suction control, electronic control buttons on the handle, HEPA filter, telescopic wand, easy to empty dirt cup, light weight canister, and stair, bare floor, and crevice attachments. The vac is also fairly quiet — my dog would run and hide when I hauled out the old vac. She doesn’t seem to care when the S3765 is running and will continue snoozing away.

Cons: For me, none so far. The dirt cup does fill quickly, but it’s not a pain to empty. The unit seems solid, but some reviewers noted issues with parts breaking — hasn’t happened to my unit yet, so I can’t comment on that. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.

    Fantastic Vacuum
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is by far the best vacuum we have ever owned. Works fantastic on both bare floors and rugs. Bought it for bare floors as our new house has no carpet. Comes with floor head included along with the motorized head for carpet. The motorized head might be difficult for some people to use with the suction turned up on high. Well made machine, glad I got this one after all the research I did. Amazon had best price for this model and I had this vacuum in my house in a matter of days with free standard shipping. Very powerful machine.

    JUNK

I owned this vacuume cleaner for about 2 months and hated it every time I used it I finally sent it back to buy a Dyson. It had great suction on hard floors but as soon as it hit carperting and you turned the brushes on they would quit spinning. I would have to hold the vacuume up a little so the brushes could spin and actually pick up dirt and pet hair but it took a toll on my back and a vacuume cleaner should not be that difficult to operate. If the filters were not cleaned every time the canister was emptied it would lose a noticeable amount of suction. I read many reviews about this product before I spent $250.00 on it and all the reviews were great until I bought it and now I am so glad I sent it back. It was a total waste of money and my time even using the vacuume.

    LOVE THIS VACUUM!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After researching several vacuum cleaners on Amazon and at Consumer Reports, I decided to purchase this vacuum and I am so happy I did! I absolutly love it. It is light and easy to handle so it can be taken up and down the stairs with no problem. It is self-propelled, making it very easy to use, and has fantastic suction. My mom has one of those expensive vacuums and I could not believe how much this Hoover picked up after she had already used her vacuum. I also like that there are no bags so one can just dump the dirt in the trash after use. My husband is so happy with it he vacuumed the entire house recently, willingly, which in and of itself is a small miracle. My mom also tried it out and loves it. Very easy for her with her arthritis. A great vacuum. We have only had it a month but so far are really impressed and pleased.

Pros.: Very powerful, convenient to use, excellent performance on bare floors, carpet, upholstery, rugs, etc.

Cons.: Too rough brush bristles - very hard on packed rugs, for instance. Bottom plate of the brush roll assembly collects static electricity when used on rugs and/or carpet, thus accumulating light pet hair. Not too bad, though.

Conc.: Well worth the money. The closest match would be Miele vacuum cleaners if you believe in bagged cleaners in general and are willing to spend three times the money.

    Don’t Buy!

I thought this would be a great product to use to clean up pet hair and use on stairs. Wrong! The canister to hold the “dirt” is way too small, you have to empty it with each room! Also when you empty the “dirt” canister, it gets all over everything so if you have allergies to dirt, etc. this will definitely be a problem! The filter is hard to keep clean and the switch is messing up on me already after 2 years. It’s just a very messy vacuum cleaner. I guess you “get what you pay for”! I’m going back to a bagged vacuum.

It was an awesome vaccum for 2 years

I loved this vaccum. Great suction, did what it was supposed to. After 2 years it just stoped working. Not sure what’s wrong with it. It’s dead. I would think that it should have lasted longer than that.

Purchased 12/06 and I will be purchasing another

I purchased my vacuum 3 years ago. The suction on my present vacuum isn’t like it used to be, but I will never the less be purchasing another of the same withing the next month or so. And I’ll have spare parts to boot for the new one.

Pros - Good suction (up until about 6 months ago), no bags to purchase (I empty before each use and it’s no big deal, good price, storage is easy because of small size, tools are adequate and store on the canister, I like being able to clean the canister occasionally with soap and water, I keep a spare filter that can also be washed with a high power stream of water, is great on carpets, very light weight, extendible wand is nice for ceiling and behind furniture. It is one of the better vacuumes I have used for pet hair (2 shedding pooches), both power heads get the hair up quickly and can get under beds and furniture. Noise is average. I abused it for a couple of months by using it to vacuum the traffic mats in the garage (we live on a working farm with lots of dirt). This is probably why it isn’t working as well. Another plus is that I got free shipping.

Cons - I had to replace the motor belt 3 or 4 times. When it gets stretched out it constantly slips off and I have to take the powerhead apart and put the belt back on until the new belts arrive in the mail (keep a couple on hand and you won’t have this problem). It could be better on hard floors.

I’ve owned many types of vacuumes including upright hoovers, orecks, rainbows, dirt devil’s, sears and others. Canisters are my favorite, they all go downhill suction wise after a few years and for the money I can’t beat this model. The only other canister vacuume I would like to try is the Meile, but it costs more.

I checked several reviews online about canister vacuums and found this to be an excellent balance price/features/efficiency… Amazon had the best price and fast delivery. Thank You Amazon.

DO NOT BUY, Piece of junk
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Vacuum cleaner looks cool, that’s the only thing it’s good for. Purchased vacuum cleaner a month ago and still have yet to be able to use it. The vacuum cleaner has a defective connector assembly for the power nozzle. You slide the wand into the power nozzle until it clicks. Now you pull the wand back toward you and the power nozzle falls off. Being an engineer it looks like a design flaw or they gave me the wrong disconnect pedal or wand. The pin is just too small to hold the power nozzle on. I called Hoover and explained that the connector hole is too big or the wand pin is too small. Hoover would not replace the wand but would send me a new connector. Two weeks later I received the connector with the same size connector hole. which means the pin is too small. Spent an hour on the phone again trying to get a new wand. Again they would not send me a wand for their defective junk unless I send them $50 for the wand. Month later I still cannot use the vacuum. Next step returning to Amazon. I would avoid this vacuum cleaner, it’s useless. Not sure how you other reviewers got this vacuum to work, guess you all got the right parts.
