Terrible Packing
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The Vacuum is shipped in it’s original carton without an outer carton and they do not use hardly any packing materials so the vacuum arrived all scratched and beat up. They need to use sufficient packing material to keep the vacuum from beating itself up during shipping. Vacuum is going back as it looks old and used from shipping.
Jury Still Out

We purchased this product in October 2009 and it was used for the first time after Christmas. In less than 6 weeks and having been used 5 times, the belt used to power the self-propelled mechanism as well as the rotating brushes broke. Not really sure whether this was such a deal or not, but we’ve got a few more belts on the way. Time will tell.
Not as expected

Heavier than expected. Attachments easily fall off caddy. Tends to tip over when you use the hose. Good suction though. Check out other Hoover vacuums first. I don’t believe this is the best buy.
Very Pleased

Happy with my hoover vacuum cleaner. It was easy to put together and with the self-propelled easy to vacuum.
Top Vacuum
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The reason I purchased this vacuum was Consumer Report magazine rated this vacuum as the top vacuum. It performs great and I am very happy with it. I have only had it for three months but it works great. I heard the noise was a negative but it is not any louder than my old vacuum. The extend hose on the back is not very long so you might want to purchase the additional hose that can stretch up to 25 feet. Hope this helps out!
Works great

My Eureka broke (bearing on the brush roller went out) and rather than wait a week for a replacement part I picked up this vacuum.
It only takes two screws to install the handle and then it’s ready to go. It works great, better than the one it replaced. I thought the “dirt finder” was just a gimmick but that seems to be pretty accurate. I have two dogs and a six year old and I vacuum almost every day. It’s been almost a week since my vacuum broke and the Hoover cleaned up everything easily and with the HEPA bag, no sneezing. I’m no vacuum connoisseur, I push it, it picks everything up and I’m happy. So far, I am happy with my purchase.
The only thing is, I didn’t purchase it from Amazon. I got it at S**’* Club for 69.91. For that price it is hard to beat. I did order my replacement belts and bags from Amazon though.
Not for hard floors
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I have a dog, 2 cats, small kids and mostly hardwoods and area rugs. I bought this vacuum based on Consumer Reports high rating for my needs. The self propelled function works great in the one room with wall to wall carpet, but on the tile and hard woods, the vacuum is careening out of control. It sounds like a screeching race car and then bumps hard into my furniture and molding along the walls. It already has numerous scratch and scuff marks and we just can’t control it well. I switched from a 10 year old Oreck and was used to holding the baby while I vacuumed so she wouldn’t be afraid of the noise. This one is so ridiculously loud, I think the neighbors can tell I’m vacuuming. The pet hair attachment works well, but the powerful suction sucks the short hose even shorter so you have to really use some muscle to get it to the couch. The suction is great on the vacuum in general. I also don’t really appreciate the clean and dirty lights because the “dirty” light remains on even on a brand new area rug. Noise and steering are the biggest reasons that I would not recommend this vacuum and I’m buying a different one after only 6 months.
After 8 months, I want to get rid of it
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I expect a vacuum cleaner to be able to pick up bits of paper, and scattered kitty litter off a hardwood floor. I’ve reread the instructions many times and have not succeeded in getting this machine to work on hardwood floors.
It’s very good on carpets, but I have area rugs and hardwood floors and need to be able to switch from one surface to the other. The hose is very short, and the suction isn’t so good on that either. This vacuum cleaner just doesn’t do a good job of cleaning.
It’s very loud! Our very patient, wonderful downstairs neighbors actually called us when they first heard us use it because they couldn’t figure out what could be making so much noise. This is the first time in 12 years that they’ve called us about making noise.
A real dud

It arrived yesterday. Today, it went to the repair shop (25 miles away)for a warranty repair. The self-propulsion didn’t work nor did the brushes on the bottom. It was heavy and noisy but that was expected. The repair shop said they get a lot of Hoovers.
Excellent Vacuum

I just moved into my first home and this was one of my first purchases. It looks great and works great. My mom used it while I was out of town and she said that it was the best she’d used. I would definitely recommend this.
the vacuum did not work when it came
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
We waited to receive the vacuum with anticipation, since it was well rated by consumer reports. We are also previous Hoover owners and were pleased in the past. My complaint is not with Hoover but more with Amazon. When we started the vacuum it was difficult to push, the engine worked but the beater brush would not turn. Upon taking it apart, we discovered the belt (looked new) was in 2 pieces. My beef is with quality assurance. This vacuum had been sent to someone else prior to us because one of the screw to attach the handle to the base of the vacuum was loose and also the belt was not on but in two pieces. I called Hoover to complain, but they assured me the vaccum was built in 2009 and was new when it left them. Getting a new belt took the entire afternoon. I had to go to Walmar, then Target then Home Depot before I found a belt for my new vacuum. DISAPPOINTING and a bit infuriating. I urge you to examine the vacuum more thoroughly when they are returned to you before you send them out to a new customer. After we installed a new belt it worked well!
Still great a year later!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I wanted to wait on writing a review until I had the vacuum a while. Well, it’s a full year later and I am still extremely happy with my purchase. It seems as though the most expensive vacuums these days are bagless and “so easy” to dispose of the dirt. Well, this vacuum has been mess-free when switching out the bags. I am so glad I went with my gut and chose a bagged vacuum. The self-propel feature is great - a little jerky as other reviewers said which I think also accounts for the “loose” handle. I haven’t found this to be bothersome, though. I especially like the hand-held attachment - it’s great for the stairs and SO powerful. I vacuum my house about once a week, especially since we got a golden retriever about 6 months ago. This vacuum has held up great, everything is still functioning perfectly. Very satisfied.
Hoover hard to handle
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This Hoover was purchased because Consumners Reports recommended it. It does a fine job cleaning carpets including the edges of wall to wall as well as hardwood floors. The cleaning attachments are stored on the vacuum which is convenient. The vacuum is heavy and bulky. It would be unmoveable if it were not self-propelled but with the self-propel Hoover U6485900 Windtunnel Anniversary Self-Propelled Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleanerfeature on or off it is difficult to maneuver around furniture. I’d like to think there is a vacuum out there that does the job but is easier to handle.
Cleans really well
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This vacuum has some serious suction! The first time I used it, my carpets looked like new. I also really like the Green/Red clean indicator light. My only complaint is that its hard to manuever (heavy, long cord & hard to turn).
Very Pleased!

After months of searching reviews everywhere on the net and talking with people, I decided to give this vacuum a try. I must say as soon as it arrived I dragged it into the house (it is a heavy box) and set it up. To my surprise the only thing I had to do was take the two screws and screw on the handle and take some tape off of it. Within 5 minutes it was ready to run, I went through my whole house which consists of 1 carpeted room, 2 hardwood floored rooms with area rugs, and a kitchen and shoe room which houses a litter box for our 4 cats. This vacuum did FANTASTIC! I have not see suction like this in forever! It actually pulled up my runner in the kitchen which my old vacuum didn’t do even when I first got it. I can not say enough about this vacuum. The bags keep the dirt inside and does NOT blow it all over your clean floor or rooms. If you have a little extra cash to spare, spend it here this vacuum is a wise descion all around!
