History of Kirby Brand Vacuum Cleaners

The Inventor

Back in 1906 the Kirby vacuum was invented by Jim Kirby. He was an inventor who wanted to make life less tedious work wise. He actually wound up having more than 200 patents. Several products that can be bought today are a result of these patents. This is a great tribute to Jim Kirby’s life as an inventor.

A Better Idea

He came up with a model that trapped dirt in a bag made of cloth in 1907. The bag collected the dirt from the air.

Improved Design

The vacuum’s design kept getting better until Kirby was satisfied enough to start production commercially after World War I.

The Vacuette Electric was actually the forerunner of what we have today. It had a floor nozzle and a handle that could be removed when necessary.

Complaints

Some people over the years complained Kirby vacuums were heavy to use. But that complaint was answered with the TechDrive Variable Power Assist. This made it quite easy to use. Other features include the bag system that has a Hepa 11 rating and boasts being 99 percent accurate. A stronger fan is now part of the power unit thanks to help from NASA.

How to Buy

Kirby vacuums are only sold through home demonstration. The company started selling this way in the 1920s. This does give an individual a chance to try the vacuum before buying. The Kirby brand has become so popular that it is sold all over the world today.
